# vs @ : It's Not About Social Media, It's About Temporary Tables

Details
Over time SQL Server has accumulated a lot of different options to deal with temporary data. This session will take a look at all of them and compares them in over ten different ways to show which one to use in which case and more importantly which ones to avoid. We will look at tempdb as well as in-memory OLTP. Explore performance, scope, durability, and how to overcome some of the limitations with a particular focus on staging tables.
Special Guest: Thomas Grohser has spent most of the past 27+ years exploring the deeper inner workings of SQL Server and its features while working in the entertainment, pharmaceutical, and financial services industries. His primary focus is to architect, plan, build, and operate reliable, highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructures for SQL Server. Over the years he has managed thousands of SQL Server instances, processing trillions of rows, taking up petabytes of storage.
