Pay Equity and the Median Pay Gap

We hope you all have been well! We’re excited to announce our next virtual session, which will be focused on pay equity, given how this area of analysis continues to come up as a key topic amongst our membership. Specifically, we will be addressing the median pay gap, which is gaining support as a standard equity benchmark.
Brian Levine, who led the Pay Equity business at Mercer and is now leading the Pay Equity practice at Merit Analytics, will provide step-by-step guidance for understanding, communicating about and closing the median pay gap. During the session, he will review advanced analytics techniques to break down the gap into multiple parts (e.g., an “all-else-equal” gap, a gap based on variance in representation across jobs, and a gap based on variance in other attributes). He will also discuss advantages and drawbacks of the median pay gap as a measure.
