Paddle Boarding or Kayaking to Crab Island
Details
This paddle is for experienced paddlers. Beginners are welcome to meet up to gain some tips and/or paddle around, the park area but any beginner who chooses to paddle with the group will do so at your own risk.
Currents can change dramatically at crab Island. I will keep an eye out on the tides/weather as we get closer to the date and evaluate the trip for safety. If there any safety concerns, the trip will be canceled.
Xtreme H20 Watersports has a rental location near the park and Dewey Destin’s on Calhoun Avenue.
There are places to rent a kayak or paddle board by the hour on Crab Island if you can’t bring your own. The general store will blow up your inflatables (example: a water floatie separate from your board) for free if you did not bring a pump.
First things first, to avoid a hefty ticket, be sure to bring a whistle and a personal floatation device PFD on your board.. You MUST have these for this trip.
I strongly suggest you bring an anchor or anchors for you watercraft if you dont want to have to hold onto it all day.
