(New Date) SUP Through Town on the French Broad River

For this excursion, we will put in at Bent Creek River Park and take out at Hominy Creek River Park. Bent Creek to Hominy Creek takes paddlers past the Biltmore House and estate, in a close-to-home flat-water run for Asheville. The length is 6.3 miles and will take about 2.5 hours, depending on river flow speed. If you are new to SUPing, no worries. You may choose to sit on your board, instead of stand. It is totally up to you. The river is shallow, so if you fall off, you will not be in deep water.

French Broad Outfitters has a riverside bar at the takeout. Anyone who would like to stay for a refreshment after the paddle is invited to do so. It would be good to bring a PFD (life vest). If you do not choose to wear it, you can attach it to your SUP. Also bring water to drink during the paddle.

We will need to set shuttles for this paddle. This means, we will meet at the takeout at 11:00 and decide which cars we will leave there and which we will drive to the put in. Those who drive to the put in, will need to transport a person or two and their boards. Those who leave a car at the take out, will need to drive a person or two back to their car at the put in. This might sound confusing, but it really is quite easy. And if you have time constraints, we can work that into our plan.

If you need to rent a board, Wai Mauna and French Broad Outfitters have daily rentals.
