What we’re about
Saluton!
If you're interested in only one culture on Earth, then study it's language. If you're interested in meeting people from multiple cultures, conducting business with people from multiple cultures, or traveling anywhere on the planet, then i suggest learning a tool that will easily help you: Esperanto, La Internacia Lingvo = Esperanto, The International Language.
I taught "Conversational Esperanto" at Stanford's International Center from 1990 to 2024. Now i'm teaching at a different location. Please see http://esperanto.org/stanford/ for all the details.
The benefits are:
- Esperanto is easy to learn. You may even learn some things about your native language.
- Esperanto is meant to be everyone's second language, not the homogenizing language of the planet, so Esperantist's meet as equals. No language group is considered superior. By design, Esperanto is "neutral" (anti-colonial).
What does it cost?
- The lessons are free.
- Esperanto is a full language, not a code. Most people will learn the grammar they need in my 6 lessons, which takes about 2 months. Then it will take a year to become fluent due to needing the time to learn all of the vocabulary you need. - Fluent! - We'll start having conversations in lesson 2.
- But there is homework! 15 minutes a day - You can handle that. :)
If you have questions, please contact me directly: stanford @ esperanto.org .
Every year there is a World Esperanto Congress. In 2023, more than 1300 of us met in Turin, Italy. In 2024 it will be in Arusha, Tanzania. If you come to class, do the homework, and don't have specific learning difficulties, i GUARANTEE, that you will be ready to travel the world using Esperanto, La Internacia Lingvo, after 1 Academic Year of study!
I hope to meet you soon.
