Topic: Investing For The Long Term
Presenter: John Flynn, CFTe, STANZ Foundation Member
Bio:
John Flynn has been active in financial markets since 1984, and was part of a pioneering group that began applying technical trading strategies to the New Zealand market in 1986. After experiencing losses during the America's Cup correction, the group took a more defensive stance ahead of the 1987 market crash, ultimately exiting nearly all positions before the downturn.
In 1997, John left full-time employment to focus on property and market investments. However, an unexpected consulting opportunity led to a period of distraction during the strong market growth leading up to 2000.
While celebrating the Millennium along the riverbank in London, John chose to withdraw entirely from employment to dedicate himself to private investment. In preparation, he relocated to Australia, attended Security Institute courses, and completed the ATAA Diploma in Technical Analysis. He later earned the globally recognized CFTe designation from IFTA (International Federation of Technical
Analysts).
Now, as a long-term investor, John shares insights into his methodology and decision-making process.
