Imre Speizer returns once again to STANZ with his annual flagship presentation, a session many members consider a must-attend fixture on the STANZ calendar.

In this presentation, Imre will provide a comprehensive and up-to-date outlook for the New Zealand economy, interest rates, housing, and the NZD, placing recent developments into a broader global and macroeconomic context. As in previous years, the session will draw on a wide range of economic indicators, market pricing, and technical analysis to help investors and traders make sense of where we are in the cycle and what may lie ahead.

Importantly, this year’s presentation will incorporate the Reserve Bank of New Zealand’s Official Cash Rate (OCR) decision on 17 February, just one week prior to the STANZ meeting.

As always, this annual STANZ presentation is designed to be practical, data-driven, and highly relevant for market participants, providing members with a clear framework for thinking about macro risks, opportunities, and key signposts for the year ahead.

Head of NZ Markets Strategy, Westpac

Imre has been the head of research for NZ financial markets at Westpac for the past 17 years. He works closely with Westpac’s macro-economists and traders, as well as strategy colleagues globally, delivering frequent market analysis and forecasts. Prior to joining Westpac, he traded currencies, interest rates, and credit products in Hong Kong, Singapore and London for investment banks such as Swiss Bank/UBS and Bank of America. He has degrees in mathematics, information systems, and economics from the universities of Otago and Canterbury.
