The need for election reform in California grows every electoral season as fewer people show up to vote. People have lost faith in our current system to fairly elect leaders they believe in. Less than a third of eligible voters in Fresno County voted in the primaries for the 2024 election. Whatever issue you care about, you won't be able to make any changes if you're not represented and that is why everything starts with election reform.
Our current chose one voting method is inherently unequal, and this inequality has decidedly negative consequences: outsized influence of money in politics, hyper-partisanship, and widespread disenchantment of voters.
STAR Voting Fresno is a group that promotes local electoral reform using STAR Voting, an innovative voting method that ensures representative elections where you can safely vote your conscience. With STAR Voting on the ballots, voters will be to given the choice to give any candidate 0 to 5 stars to show their preference order and level of support for the candidates they truly believe in. STAR Voting is the most effective at eliminating strategic voting among the electorate such as vote splitting and the spoiler effect. It empowers voters and encourages politicians to run positive campaigns, which in turn leads to more fair and representative elections.
