Every creative block feels personal. It rarely is. A blank page, a blank canvas, an untouched instrument, a lump of clay nobody's shaped yet, it's the same wall every time, just built from different material. Starfire Spark is a two-hour weekly practice built to get you past that wall, using Hemi-Sync to open the exact flow state where new work actually starts.
No experience needed. No prior classes required. You can join for the first time on any Thursday and get the full experience that night.
How does it work?
Every session uses Hemi-Sync, an audio technology developed by Robert Monroe, a radio broadcasting executive before he ever studied consciousness. He applied what he knew about sound to the mind, and built specific tone patterns that guide your brain into specific states through stereo headphones. This weekly class uses that technology for one purpose: getting you into the state where creative work moves on its own instead of getting dragged out one word, one note, or one brushstroke at a time.
Most weeks, we work in Focus 12, a state of expanded awareness that opens up idea generation and loosens the grip of self-judgment while you make something. Some weeks we visit other states built for staying absorbed once you've started, or for the different, quieter attention that revision actually needs. I'll always tell you which state we're using and what it does before we begin.
The track rotates every week, so no two Thursdays feel the same, and every Thursday stands completely on its own. You don't need to have attended before to understand what we're doing, and you won't spend a session catching up.
What does a session look like?
Soundcheck. We arrive on the Zoom call with time to say hello, and I give you some background information about the track and what the exercise will entail before we begin.
Transmission. Cameras off, mics muted, headphones on. The streaming audio carries you through that night's exercise, the one I walked you through in Soundcheck.
Playback. We come back and put something real to use, a timed sprint, a small revision pass, a low-stakes share, whatever that week's exercise calls for. Nobody is required to share, but we learn from each other, so the experience compounds exponentially when we all do.
Who is this course for?
Writers stuck on a draft. Musicians staring at a silent instrument. Painters who haven't touched a brush in months. Dancers, filmmakers, sculptors, potters, photographers, quilters, home cooks who think about a menu the way a poet thinks about a stanza. Anyone who scrapbooks or doodles in the margins and has never once called themselves an artist out loud. The flow state doesn't know or care what you're making. It works the same whether what comes out the other side is a sentence, a chord, a brushstroke, or a single even stitch.
Why does doing this practice with a group matter?
You could do a guided track alone at home. People do. But a room full of people making something in real time pulls you into the work faster than a blank screen or an empty easel ever will on its own, and a shared track tends to go deeper than the same track played solo. When you hear someone else read one raw, unfinished line out loud, your own unfinished work feels safer to share. A dancer's sense of timing lands differently in a writer's ear than another writer's advice would. A painter's eye for composition can reshape how a musician thinks about a bridge. None of that happens by accident, and none of it happens alone.
Come once and you'll leave with something small you didn't have before. Come six weeks running and you'll notice a shift a single session never produces by itself — the block gets smaller, the starting gets easier, and a room full of near-strangers starts to feel like people who are on your side. You don't have to come every week for any of this to count. But something real builds momentum if you do.
What will you take with you?
You'll leave your first session with the Ignition Protocol, a short solo practice you can run at home between Thursdays. It follows the same three beats as the class. A few minutes of this on your own, and the state gets easier to reach every week you come back.
What will you need?
A comfortable, quiet place to work. Stereo headphones, since the audio is built to be heard that way. I provide streaming links for each session, so any computer or handheld device will do.
What happens during the session?
When we go into the exercise, leave Zoom running, but black out your camera and mute your mic. When we come back, camera on, mic muted unless you're sharing. This keeps background noise from stepping on anyone else's experience. Thank you in advance for helping with that.
Keep your baseline
If you ordinarily drink coffee, smoke, or take medication daily, keep doing exactly that on class nights. This isn't the moment to change your routine. A steady baseline is what lets you actually notice what the practice is doing, and stasis for the duration of the program makes that possible.
Your trainer
I'm Demi Pietchell, founder of The Starfire Codes and a certified Monroe Institute Outreach Trainer. Before any of this, I spent over thirty years across film, television, writing, and interactive telecommunications, as an indie filmmaker, a creative director, a marketing director, and an executive producer. I lead workshops that teach people how to achieve expanded states of consciousness using Hemi-Sync audio technology, including Exploring Consciousness, Living From The End, and Shift Your Timeline, run the weekly Starfire Signals intuition class on Tuesdays, and host MCG Starfire, a weekly virtual Monroe community group. I'm also a professional diviner, which means I use expanded consciousness to do my work on a daily basis. Starfire Spark pulls from both halves of that background at once, the years spent creating things, and the years since spent teaching people how to reach states of consciousness that allow you to expand and flow whenever and wherever you want to.
