What we're about

"You can start late, look different, be uncertain, and still succeed." Misty Copeland

  • This group is designed for women over 30 who feel too old, too late, too unqualified, or too *anything* to start over and prosper. Whether you're starting over after divorce, finally starting that new business, going back to school, or making a comeback after a health challenge, we will come together purposefully to share, heal, learn, and grow.

Meet the Mother-Daughter Duo Cherise Young & Candace Smith

With 30 years of experience in the field of social services and 21 years dedicated to the area of mental health, Cherise Young has coached individuals, families, church groups, and professionals to improve their level of functioning, achieve emotional well-being and enhance their communication skills. Cherise assists and equips all she meets to live in, with and on purpose.

A professional writer, journaling enthusiast, and single mother of one, Candace Smith looks forward to leading fruitful journaling sessions. We'll ask the hard questions and inspire each other each week.

Hello SOAPHers!
The following guidelines are included for the integrity and safety of all members.
Membership Requirements:

Any woman over 30 who desires to do the difficult work of a “do-over” in life.

Be respectful of others and allow each woman to navigate their steps/goals at their own pace. Please know, all hate speech, bullying, exploitation, recruiting for clients/business partners outside the times allowed in the group, political speech, or unsolicited advice will not be allowed.

Please have a current profile picture of yourself posted. This helps with identifying you and provides group safety. Not having a current profile picture will result in being released from the group. Along the same lines, it is encouraged to be on camera when attending online events. Knowing with whom we are interacting lends to cohesiveness and builds trust.

We are open to suggestions regarding topics and events. We understand that not every SOAPHer will be able to attend every event. To ensure SOAP is a healing community, being an active and accountable member is enforced. Inactive members, and those with more than two late cancelations or “no shows” will be released from the member’s list. This helps those who do participate feel safe and connected to other SOAP group members.

Because SOAP seeks to be a role model for women wanting to invest in themselves, there will be a registration fee for all events. Fees will range in cost depending on the event and venue. Please be advised we are looking at instituting membership fees at a later time to encourage consistency and to help remove the guesswork regarding event prices.

Please know, these guidelines are not to be viewed as punitive or exclusive. No, given our 10 years of experience participating in and hosting Meetups, we know how important it is to feel valued and respected. We get that and are willing to do what it takes so each SOAPHer can experience healing, community, and connection.

Welcome and thank you for joining!
