Karen rejoined Google as Director, Global Geo Strategy & Business Development, after its late 2016 acquisition of Urban Engines, a movement analytics startup, where as the company’s first business hire she was General Manager. Previously, Karen served as Managing Director of GE Digital, where she kick-started partnership, acquisition, and investment strategies to advance GE’s Industrial Internet capabilities across its multi-billion dollar industrial businesses. Karen was an interim executive at several startups before GE, driving strategy, growth, and key hires. Prior, as a Google executive, Karen helped grow AdSense from near inception to several hundred million dollar run-rate, led internal operations for Google’s 2004 IPO — for which she received a Founders Award — and worked with executives, engineers, and product managers on early-stage ads, geo, and energy-related incubation and exploratory efforts from inception to scale. An advisor to angel- and venture-backed start-ups, Karen holds an MBA/JD from Northwestern and a BA in Public & International Affairs from Princeton, and serves on the Boards of XP Solutions and Data Arts.
