Fireside Chat: Jason Mendelson, Co-founder & Managing Director at Foundry Group
Jason is a co-founder and managing director at Foundry Group, a Boulder-Colorado based venture capital firm focused on making early-stage technology investments, participating in select growth rounds and identifying and supporting the next generation of venture fund managers.
Prior to co-founding Foundry Group, Jason was a co-founder of SRS Acquiom and a Managing Director and General Counsel for Mobius Venture Capital. Prior to this, Jason was an attorney with Cooley. Early in his career, Jason was a software engineer at Accenture.
Jason holds a B.A. in Economics, and a J.D. from the University of Michigan. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Law School. He is also an active musician with his band Legitimate Front. He also co-authored the best selling book Venture Deals – be smarter than your lawyer and your venture capitalist. Hi guys! I'm Ben. I love new ideas, teamwork, and the intersection of the humanities and technology to make the world and cooler and better place to live.
I studied English and Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan, graduating in 2013. Since, I have worked in marketing and business development roles at startups in education technology, mobility, and social media. I am currently the Director of Business Development at SPLT, an enterprise carpool platform in Detroit. My favorite side project is Native <> Newcomer, fostering collaboration between native Detroiters and newcomers. Dwain Watkins is founder and CEO of Cellular EMT Detroit's only on-demand mobile phone repair solution. Dwain was born and raised just outside of Detroit in the east burbs and has always had a special relationship with the city. Since January on 2017 Dwain has been involved with the Detroit start-up scene speaking at events such as How to Start a Start-Up, DNewTech, A2NewTech and EO group pitch event.
