On October 17th we will have several startups pitching to local investors. Come learn and practice your pitch. Meet local investors (see bios below). Apply to present & pitch - send us a DM!
Startups to prepare:
- 1 min pitch (teaser, no slides). Usually contains your What and Why, Value, Traction and Call to Action.
- 10 min pitch (with slides). May include: Teaser, Problem-Solution, Customer Profile, Value Prop, Competitors, Financial metrics, Team profiles, Call to Action

If your startup is struggling to have a clear business-model, or you want to clarify and improve it, you can apply for a hot-seat at a future StartupHV meetup. We implement a crowd-sourcing approach to your business-model, using the Business Model Canvas (BMC), Value Proposition Canvas, SWOT analysis, Scenario Planning or other business tools. Tiombe Tallie Carter, Esq.
Tallie is the principal at Tallie Carter Law, P.C. Prior to starting the firm, Tallie spent more than 15 years working in the entertainment industry as studio manager of Ready Or Not Records, executive producer at The WATR Company and business manager for the Hudson Valley Film Office, a region-wide film commission. She also garnered significant experience in economic development with the City of Newburgh Department of Planning & Development. Through these experiences Tallie has developed insight and appreciation of the creative process and the art of business. She is able to provide valuable perspective to her clients.
Tallie is an accomplished entrepreneur in her own right. She has recently founded IDARE Enterprises, Inc. and launched the CreativesMX Marathon, a professional development platform for emerging creatives.
Russ Vernon serves on non-profit boards of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Newburgh Armory Unity Center and the Hebrew Technical Institute. He was formerly the founder and General Partner of BVM Capital and President of Commerce Capital Markets, Inc. Prior assignments include serving as Chief Operating Officer at Barrett Associates, Inc., a Legg Mason wholly owned New York based money management firm, the Director of Investment Operations at Warburg Pincus Asset Management and Chancellor Capital Management.
In the public sector, Russ served as a full Colonel in the New York Army National Guard until 2004.
Russ holds a BS from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a MBA from Columbia University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
Bill Conyea, the founder of Crestview Global, a technology advisory and talent acquisition firm primarily servicing the financial services industry.
Additionally, Mr. Conyea is an avid urbanist and investor in the Mid-Hudson Valley Region of New York, with a primary focus of seeding small businesses and redeveloping mixed use properties in Newburgh.
Mr. Conyea served as a divisional CTO at JPMorgan Chase, spent 16 years at Morgan Stanley as global CTO of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, held several roles at IBM, American Express and Mobil Oil, as a senior level technology professional and software developer.
He has BS in business and information sciences with the SUNY Albany. He is a personal investor in early-stage tech startups and serves on several executive advisory boards.
