SESSION TITLE: How Augmented Reality is transforming legacy industries
DESCRIPTION: As the barrier of entry drops for Augmented Reality devices, more people being exposed to these new technologies and their application in areas outside of gaming. From healthcare to retail, to training, we’re seeing entire industries being transformed by this new medium. Industries like real estate (among others) are becoming increasingly prone to this disruption the process of visualizing and marketing real estate is quickly evolving.

In this session, Joel Mena, CEO of JM Studios will describe what the emergence of the Augmented reality will mean for legacy industries (like real estate) and how you can take advantage of these new possibilities.

SPEAKER: Joel Mena is a tech entrepreneur and UX expert. For 12+ years Joel has held various product/design leadership roles for companies large and small and is a valued advisor on user experience design, marketing, and emerging platforms. For the past 5 years, Joel has worked closely with companies and entrepreneurs to help launch and grow several businesses across a number of verticals including, real estate, health, entertainment, and IoT to name a few.
In his current role as CEO and founder of JM Studios Joel and his team leverage their multi-disciplinary backgrounds and the latest AR/VR technologies to create immersive experiences for a wide range of clients in real estate, hospitality, and urban planning sectors.

In 2015 Joel launched the real estate innovation lab with the goal of helping brands connect with their audience through meaningful digital experiences that bridge the gap between the physical and digital world. Since it’s launch this division of the company has been featured in a number of publications and industry events including eMerge Americas, Miami New Construction Show, Xplode, Creative Glue, Curbed, and Faces of Innovation among many others.
Joel an active member of the local design community and part of the leadership team for the Interaction Design Association (IxDA) where he often speaks on emerging technologies, user centered-design principles and the role these disciplines play in the startup landscape.
