Map and Compass Orienteering at Frick Park

The Western Pennsylvania Orienteering Club (WPOC) will host a map and compass orienteering meet in Frick Park on Sunday June 4, 2017. Participants can register and start anytime between 10:45 AM and 2 PM. The meet will close at 3:30 PM. Multiple courses are available, from beginner to intermediate and advanced. Free instruction available on site. Cost is $6 per map. Family or group doing event together with one purchased map, the overall cost is still just $6. Detailed topographic color map shows checkpoints to find in sequential order, and goal is to find them all and to the finish. Also known as the "thinking sport", it is popular in Scandinavian and Eastern European countries. Meet at the Lower Ravine shelter.
