Megalodon Ledge - North Carolina Dive Trip

Details

Millions of years ago, the waters off North Carolina served as a feeding ground for the megalodon shark. These behemoths reached lengths up to 60 feet and fed on fish, rays, and even whales. Today, their teeth and the fossils of their prey scatter the bottom.

Located between 25-45 miles offshore, the Megladon Ledge is world-renowned for it’s pristine teeth. Here, ocean currents move sand along the ledges, exposing the ancient seafloor and the treasures it contains. It is not uncommon to find numerous teeth between 5-6 inches in one day, and because these teeth have remained buried till now, they are in excellent shape!

This trip is open to experienced divers only. We will be diving up to 45 miles offshore and at depths of 100 to 110 feet. To maximize our findings and prevent competition, we dive solo (unless you come with and plan to stay with a buddy). We will be doing a free descent on each diving, meaning there is no anchor line to descend or ascend on. This allows us to hunt wherever we choose and to make the most of our bottom time. You must be Advanced Open Water and Nitrox Certified for this trip.
