About us

Welcome

Pull on your walking shoes or boots , do up your laces, grab that back pack with lunch, warm clothes and a rain jacket, and join us on a Walk soon.

Add your name to the Events that interest you, and make a comment if you require a ride or have space for another member.

Come prepared for cooler, winter weather conditions, wear strong grippy walking shoes...have a polypropylene or wool layer against your chest...to keep yourself happy outdoors...especially when we stop...consider bringing a warm hat...and carry everything in a small backpack, including your lunch and water and protein snacks, and perhaps purchase a hiking pole for down hill support for older knees.

We'll do all sorts of walking, all over Auckland and Beyond...including hiking, trekking, tramping, mid week urban walks...do gear info days, learn something about trees and plants, go on weekend and sometimes do mid week urban walks, go mushroom hunting...do garden visits, go caving ...and find a hidden waterfall or get into some hot pools after a day in the wilderness in and do fun stuff together to make an event with us, memorable.

Take pictures and get curious about the people around you .

Come to improve your English, and help us learn your language. And culture...Share food and drinks with us and good banter...all on Stephen's Walking Group.

We're aiming to be a social group for people to make new friends, get off the concrete and into the outdoors, connect with nature, improve our fitness and have some meaningful conversations if you want more to life than what you currently have.

Our Events will be limited to 25 members attending.

I'm asking for a $5 payment from members when they attend any event to offset the increased costs of the Meet Up Website and putting on these events for your pleasure and socializing interests.

We'll carpool and share rides, have a central meeting place for those interested, in needing or enjoying the company of others to save on costs and other things.

What we do, and where we go, and how to prepare for the day's activities will be advertised on the event.

A long-time resident of Auckland, Stephen French is well known amongst Aucklanders and other people for his many years leading hikes and walks here on Meet Up, Founder of Feet First Hiking & Urban Walking Meet Up Group in 2010... which he organized over 850 Events in 15 years, he's no longer involved with .

His quirky extroverted personality...and his immense knowledge of Auckland's tracks and trails, and beyond to places like Waikato Region and the islands in the Auckland Region are legendary.

Have fun and meet new friends and reconnect with others walking in and around Auckland & Beyond.

If you’re interested in joining us please provide your first name and a clear photo of yourself so its easy to recognize you when you attend our events, or wish to get a ride or offer another member transportation. This helps build up trust within the group...If not your membership cannot be accepted.

Auckland and Beyond to the Waikato Region and other places is blessed with many green reserves, regional parks and extinct volcanic mountains, many black sand beaches, and wide open spaces and so much more..

Pull on your Walking shoes and join me for some fun outdoor walking and weekend adventures .
