Stockholm Clojure Café: Func Prog Conf Prep
Details
Hi Clojurians!
In preparation for the Func Prog Conf 2026 the Agical office turns into Clojure Café on Tuesday, October 13.
Doors open at 16 and no-one will be kicked out until earliest 22.
There will be food. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian from Matrosen Smörrebröd. I'll try to have some gluten free options. But there's nothing vegan on the menu. If that's your thing, you are welcome to bring your own food.
There will also be beers and other beverages.
As usual Clojure Café means we meet and hang. Those who want to bring their projects do so. If you want to show something, do so. And so on.
That said, we do have talks this time:
- Arne Brasseur (a.k.a. plexus): Datastar – how to use it with Clojure and some of the architectural choices
- Markus Holmström: Cellsify – A take on Spreadsheets you didn't expect and now you need it in your life
Arne sends this along: Datastar lets you create rich frontend applications in a declarative way. No npm, no react, just a single `script` tag and a bunch of standard HTML `data-...` attributes. That's already great, but how does that impact your backend? There's a specific architecture that's been gaining attention, based on Server Sent Events (SSE, think websockets-lite), morphing (kind of like vdom diffing, but without the vdom), and smart use of connection-level compression. Together you get frontends that are always up to date, and multiplayer out of the box, all while keeping your state where it belongs: in the database.
Hope to see you there!
