Bat Walk (University) 🦇🥾
Details
Jess T has kindly offered to host a bat walk. Jess will bring along some bat detectors, so that you can hear the bats as well as see them (there will be no handling of bats as they will be flying).

📍 Meeting Point
We will meet outside the University of Stirling Sports Centre (at the big steps). This is the big glass-fronted building down the hill from the main campus buildings and car parks. Together we can then head to the start of the bat walk. A photo of the meeting point has been included in the event listing.
Travel Information
🚌 Bus Various bus services including service 'UL' and service '54' connect Stirling city centre with the University of Stirling bus hub. The sports centre is a short walk downhill from the main campus buildings.
🚲Cycle Open air cycle rack outside sports centre. Covered cycle shelter outside swimming pool (next door to sports centre). Bring your own lock.
📃Public Transport Planner The Traveline Scotland app/website has Scotland-wide rail, bus and coach timetables. Service updates are also available.
🚗 Car There is ample parking in the main university car parks. Parking is FREE after 5pm on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Postcode for satnav is FK9 4LA.
👣 The Bat Walk
The walk will be fairly easygoing, however please wear appropriate walking shoes and come dressed for the weather. The route is along a mixed terrain path and approx. 2km in length. Please note that the route can get muddy during wet weather.
📢 Communication and Updates
Any updates will be posted as a comment reply to this event listing on the Meetup app, as not everybody is on the walking sub group on WhatsApp.
🦮 Pets
We politely request that pet dogs do not accompany you on this event. Registered assistance animals are always welcome at all our Meetup events.
🌦️ Weather Forecast
It is difficult to be certain what the weather will be like just now. Bats do not enjoy particularly cold or wet weather. If weather conditions are not favourable, an update will be posted on the Meetup app to explain any alternative arrangements.
🚽Toilets
Toilets are available in the sports centre. These are accessed through a barrier. Please ask sports centre reception desk staff for access to the toilet. Toilets are behind the reception area, before the cafe.
📋 Reminders
Please wear sensible footwear with good grip as terrain is uneven.
Double check the weather forecast before setting off, to decide on layers/waterproofs.
Bring a torch.
All guests to be accounted for in the numbers, so we know who to expect. This event allows for you to bring a +1 so if you would like to do so, please include them in your RSVP.
Please don’t be a no-show, out of courtesy to others please change your status to ‘not going’ with as much notice as possible.
