Geminid Meteor Shower 🌠🔭

Sunday 14th December will be the peak of the Geminid meteor shower with up to 120 meteors an hour visible! 🌠

⏰ Timings

Sunday 14th December 19:00-22:00 (approx).

The end time will be flexible depending on how people feel, weather and meteors, so we may only be out for an hour or could be more.

📍 Meeting Point

We will meet at the Forthside Car Park \ Vue Cinema and then head off together to a darker sky patch (within 20mins of Stirling)

🚗Travel

A car will be needed for this. So if you have a car post in the event with how many spaces you have so we can make sure everyone has travel sorted.

If you don't have a car that's fine, we'll work out car slots and passengers at the car park.

We will then travel together to a location to stargaze.

🐕Dogs

Dogs, other than guide dogs, are not allowed

Not sure 100% where we are going yet, but we will work to ensure accessibility needs are met - but let me know in advance.

🌦️ Weather Forecast

The event requires clear skies so if the weather is poor the event will be cancelled which may be fairly last minute.

It will be cold though!

📋 Reminders

Please wear sensible footwear so that we can walk around to find a good spot.

This will be nighttime in December and there'll be a fair bit of being still, so dress as warm as you can.

If you have (waterproof) picnic blankets please bring them so we can lie down if wanted.

If you have any stargazing equipment such as a telescope and are willing to bring it please do. You won't need any equipment to see the meteors but we can look at other things as well.

All guests should be accounted for in the numbers, so we know who to expect and can ensure everyone has transport. This event allows for you to bring a +1 so if you would like to do so, please include them in your RSVP.

Please don’t be a no-show! Out of courtesy to others change your status to ‘not going’ with as much notice as possible.
