Please join us at the Ethical Society for a “Skype” conversation with Margaret Klein from “The Climate Mobilization: A Practical Approach to a Moral Revolution”
Margaret Klein, Ph.D. is the Founder and Director of the “social movement startup” The Climate Mobilization and the author of the blog The Climate Psychologist.
Margaret will discuss how the forces of cultural and individual denial, willful ignorance, dissociation, and passivity are preventing the emergency response that climate change demands, and a concrete strategy for overcoming them.
World War II offers an excellent example of how the United States overcame denial and passivity (Isolationism) and mobilized the entire economy and society for victory. The surprise military attack on Pearl Harbor was simple and unambiguous.
Climate change has more complex effects. The Pledge to Mobilize is a psychological, political and organizational tool to help the USA achieve that same level of collective awakening and demand a massive Climate Mobilization from our elected leaders.
The Pledge invites every American to take a stand on the great moral issue of our time and empowers them to be a meaningful part of a comprehensive solution.
