Phase Out Fossil Fuels Rally -

WHO: Members and allies of 350 STL, the St. Louis, Missouri chapter of the international climate justice organization 350.org, in conjunction with other youth and adults concerned about the climate crisis.

WHAT: A local rally to Phase Out Fossil Fuels

WHEN: Friday, June 9, 2023 @ NOON CDT

WHERE: Peabody Campus / Citygarden, 801 Market St, St. Louis, MO 63101

WHY: The climate crisis rages on. We can see it every day. Last July St Louis had 8” of rain in a few hours with devastating flooding that we are still recovering from. Much of Missouri is in severe drought now. These changes are happening worldwide faster than predicted, including extreme heat waves, drought, wildfires, torrential downpours, and super-powered hurricanes.

Release of greenhouse gases traps heat, raising surface temperature and changing our climate.
Mining and using coal, oil, and gas for fuel and plastics are the #1 cause of global climate change.

The two largest coal companies are in St Louis. Peabody is #1 globally. Ameren is Peabody’s #1 customer. We will never get where we need to be if we continue to expand fossil fuel production. Peabody and the big oil companies are determined to dig, drill and burn every last bit of coal, oil and gas, but we cannot let them.

It’s true we can’t stop burning these fuels tomorrow, but we have to devote what’s left to making the transition to a clean energy future. Fossil fuels will have to be used to build wind turbines, solar panels and batteries until we invent the technologies to use renewable energy sources to build them.

We need to make everyone aware of these issues and Phase out Fossil Fuels to Save our Future!
