2023 Workshop #2 - Roll Your Own Serverless with Knative

Instead of monthly 1-hour meetings in a passive presentation format, St. Louis Serverless has moved to quarterly 3-hour workshops with coverage of multiple technical topics while building a complete serverless application.

Important: Even if you're not a coder, the workshops will be designed so you can still do them, with most of the code pre-written. Any code you'll need to write will be provided for you to copy and paste. The purpose of the workshops is to show you how to develop serverless applications, not test your skills as a coder.

Zoom meeting will be started at 5:00. The workshop will begin at ~5:05pm and will wrap up at 8:00pm, but may go a bit longer with wrap-up Q&A.

We will be on Zoom for sure, but are researching the possibility of doing a hybrid in-person / virtual workshop. Stay tuned for more details.

A full agenda and workshop prerequisites will be published approximately two weeks ahead of the workshop.

Our 2023-2 workshop in July will feature a workshop dedicated to Roll Your Own Serverless with Knative.

This workshop will build a serverless application using the following Knative and Kubernetes services and tools:

  2. Kubernetes + serverless with Knative
  3. Kubernetes warm-up (Lab 1)
  4. Installing Knative (Lab 2)
  5. Knative Functions (Lab 3)
  6. Knative Serving (Lab 4)
  7. Knative Eventing (Lab 5)
  8. Q&A and Wrap-up

When we're done, you'll understand the fundamentals of serverless development on Knative using Kubernetes.
