AWS Lambda or AWS Fargate? NOW COMBINED WITH GCP MTG ON JUNE 4

Details

Notice: This meeting is being combined with the June 4th meeting on GCP Functions versus Cloud Run. This event's date was moved to June 4th, but RSVPs are closed. Please RSVP to the Combined Meeting.

AWS Lambda is the workhorse for serverless computing in AWS. However, sometimes Lambda becomes a Golden Hammer, so that every serverless use case looks like a nail.

In reality, there are many use cases that are not appropriate for Lambdas. Instead, we might want to consider using AWS Fargate.

This meeting will compare and contrast AWS Lambda and AWS Fargate so you can better decide which is best for your use case.

  • Brief overview on serverless
  • Overview of AWS Lambda: Deployment Scenarios, Scalability, Pricing
  • Overview of AWS Fargate: Deployment Scenarios, Scalability, Pricing
  • Building and deploying a Lambda function
  • Building and deploying a Fargate application

With a better understanding of these two AWS serverless building blocks, you should be able to pick the best one for your use cases.
