Digital Adoption - what is it and how can you and your organizations benefit?
Many of us have been involved at some level with helping users get trained on applications, whether that is Atlassian tools like Jira or Confluence, or maybe tools like CRM applications (e.g. Salesforce, MS Dynamics, etc.), Workday and others. There is no substitute for good training, but adoption is another story. Ever heard of digital adoption?

Typically, organizations have relied post-training on useful support options such as user guides and how-to videos and sometimes on super or power users. While these all can work to some degree, they are not the most ideal ways to quickly raise the competencies of all users to acceptable levels.

Enter digital adoption.  New tools now available can 'overlay' helpful guidance on top of live versions of applications. They can guide users to do it right the first time every time, without frustrating delays to click over to user guides or how-to videos or taking the time to contact a super or power user for help.  Digital adoption tools if employed properly can enhance productivity, reduce entry errors, and can even offer visibility at scale into where users may be struggling. Some of these tools can even automate repetitive tasks!

Meeting Day/Time: Wednesday, November 17.  Starts at Noon, ends at 1pm (or before)
Hopefully, this piques your interest as it has mine.   WalkMe is a pioneer in this space. Their presentation will include a brief demo...a live instance of WalkMe employing guidance for a Jira process so you can experience how digital adoption tools work.  Q&A time is included. This is a live Zoom-delivered lunch and learn!   Learn more about how lunch will work below. Until the meeting, feel free to learn more about WalkMe at walkme.com and as it may apply to Jira in particular, check out walkme.com/platform/jira/

Virtual Attendees - Lunch on Us!
RSVP by noon, on Monday, November 15, to get lunch delivered at your door before the meeting starts.  We plan to utilize a new service that makes the event-connected ordering of lunch super-simple.   The meal is programmed to be delivered to you at your home or office just before the meeting begins; those in metro areas have a wide choice of restaurants!  Details forthcoming.  NOTE: This offer is only available to (most) US locations and is limited to the first 50 RSVPs.

Two things you must do: RSVP (top of this page) and register for the Zoom meeting.
1) RSVP to this meeting by no later than end-of-day MONDAY, November 15.
On Tuesday morning, November 16, an email will go out to all who RSVP'd with a link for ordering your lunch.  Restaurant offerings vary by location, but St. Louisan's will have more than 50 restaurants to choose from (click 'More Options' to see additional choices beyond the initial).

  1. Register for the Zoom meeting by clicking here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUqcuysqTwsG9wz6B9bc0QgPiVC-3S49qYW
You CAN register in advance.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

DONE!  Once you complete these steps, you will have your Zoom link in hand (tip: place it in your calendar at noon on Wednesday, 11/17) and you will have your link to order your meal.  Do order your meal as soon as possible - by end of Tuesday, 11/16, please - so the company has enough time to arrange to get it to you by noon on Wednesday.  Most importantly the presentation should be awesome, so we look forward to seeing you then!

Hosted By

Tom Crespi, Atlassian User Group Leader

Tom's academic background is in the biological sciences. His undergrad experiences included research and that interest in learning and discovery carried into early career experiences in quality improvement for companies including Chevron, Monsanto and Bayer (current American Society for Quality-sponsored certifications include Certified Quality Engineer) .

More recently, organizational change management became a passion. The realization that employee engagement was a powerful factor involved for successful change led to his interest to explore, recommend and eventually to deploy a succession of collaboration tools over the past 15 years. These tools are also utilized in the change management practice he leads at Graybar (Fortune 500 distributor).

He has spoken publicly about the value of collaboration applications in organizations, is on one popular application's Product Advisory Board, and has a certification that attests to his understanding of use of such tools and how to deploy them.
