Greater Cahokia and the Indigenous Foundations of St. Louis
Details
Cost: $5; doors open at 6:30pm.
On Thursday, March 19th, Unseen STL History Talks is excited to welcome Kyle Olson. Kyle Olson is an archaeologist and historian who teaches the archaeology of the St. Louis region at Washington University in St. Louis.
Kyle’s topic concerns indigenous history in St. Louis. He will primarily focus on “Greater Cahokia” and explain some of the major areas of research on the site, both past and present. His emphasis will be not only on some of the spectacular features of the site (e.g., Monk’s Mound, the plazas, Woodhenge, Mound 72, etc.) but also on the debates around the nature and timing of significant cultural developments at the site and its long-term impact on the history of the broader region.
