"Who gets to claim a city, define its traditions, and decide whose interests it serves?
This month’s Unseen STL History Talk explores those questions through the history of the Veiled Prophet. We are excited to welcome author Devin Thomas O’Shea, who will join me to discuss his book, The Veiled Prophet: Secret Societies, White Supremacy, and the Struggle for St. Louis, and the conflicts over race, class, and power that run through its pages.

"Join us at Leviathan Bookstore, 3211 South Grand, on Thursday, November 19, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $5 (+ fees).
Very limited tickets will be available at the door, so reserve yours now to guarantee your spot."

The Speaker
"Devin Thomas O’Shea is a St. Louis writer and the author of The Veiled Prophet: Secret Societies, White Supremacy, and the Struggle for St. Louis. Drawing on years of research, his book explores the connections between elite pageantry, racial hierarchy, and economic power, revealing how a local institution opens onto a much larger story of American history."
