This month’s meetup features two talks. From logic programming to solarpunk futures, we’ll look at how creativity shapes our craft and how Ruby can be a medium for both reasoning and reimagining.

Whether you’ve been coding for years or are just starting your journey, this is a chance to connect with the community, share ideas, and celebrate the joy of programming. Our meetups draw developers of all levels, and newcomers are always welcome! We Ruby folk are friendly, so don’t hesitate to stop by.

Agenda

  • 6:30 PM — Networking & Registration: Kick things off with introductions and light refreshments.
  • 6:45 PM — Welcome & Announcements: Updates on STLRuby and a thank-you to our sponsors, Ruby Central and GitHub, for supporting the space, non-alcoholic drinks, and pizza 🍕.
  • 7:00 PM — Talk 1: Declarative Thinking in an Object-Oriented World — Chris Zempel
Expressing problems in logic programming can help us write better, more maintainable object-oriented Ruby code. Explore your problem spaces in new ways.
  • 7:30 PM — Talk 2: Patch The World — Matt Ruzicka
Cyberpunk warned us what not to become. The tech dazzled, but the societies were broken. Now we’re closer than ever to that reality. Can we keep the tech, but reimagine and build a brighter future?
  • 8:00 PM — Wrap-Up & Additional Networking: Stick around for continued discussion and community time.
