Ruby shares a lot of history with Perl. Some of the features that make Ruby great are features that were refined from Perl 5. Perl 6 continues this tradition by lifting and improving features from Ruby (as well as Haskell, SmallTalk, & JavaScript).

After 15 years of development, Perl 6 is scheduled to be released by this Christmas. This talk will start with a brief intro to Perl 6 from a Ruby developer perspective. Then we'll dive into some neat new features in Perl 6 relating to language friendliness, OO, concurrency models, and a few other things.
