What we’re about
We’re the St. Louis Urbanists, a grassroots advocacy group working to create safer and more effective infrastructure for pedestrians, bicycle users, transit riders, and even car drivers in the St. Louis region. Our movement aims to promote better urban design through education, organization, and engagement at every level.
We hope to create a community for like-minded individuals to hang out and discuss transportation, urban design, local politics, and other similar topics. You can join us at our online Discord server, where we share tactical wins, post resources, and discuss local issues.
Our main in-person meetups are on the 2nd Thursday of every month. These meetings are open to all. The first half of these meetings is formal discussion of our organization and project updates, and the second half is social.
In addition, we have a number of recurring meetups, such as Social Bike Rides, Urbanist Book Club, and Bus Bike Brunch. We're always coming up with new meetup ideas, and let us know if you have an idea of your own!

See all- Gravois Walk AuditGravois Plaza, St. Louis, MO
Come walk with us! The Coalition to Protect Cyclists and Pedestrians and St Louis Urbanists are teaming up to explore Gravois Avenue on foot and see what it’s really like to navigate as a pedestrian.
This 2-mile walk audit is part walk, part workshop, and all about making our streets safer and more welcoming for everyone. We'll do a round-trip from Gustine to Utah as a group and move at a slow pace with stops to talk and take notes. The walk will go on rain or shine, with the exception of severe weather. Please be aware this is a walk along a busy road on what may be a hot day.
We’ll observe, reflect, and document what we see:
- Where does Gravois feel dangerous, and why?
- What’s missing for people walking, cycling, rolling, or waiting for the bus?
- Where can we push for real change?
Whether you’re a daily walker, a transit rider, a nearby resident, or just someone who wants safer streets, your voice matters. This is a great chance to meet fellow advocates, learn how to spot good (and bad) street design, and help push for changes that save lives.
When: Sunday, August 10, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The walk will begin at 10:15 a.m.
Where: Meet 10 a.m. at Gravois Plaza, 3573 Bamberger (the parking lot west of America's Best Contacts)
Who: Anyone interested! We welcome families, neighbors, folks using mobility aids, and anyone who cares about safe streets, community, and the future of Gravois. We will cross Gravois twice on the route at signaled intersections. Gravois by design has some inaccessible parts. While we welcome all, please assess your own comfort with traveling along and across Gravois before joining. How to join:
- Sign up: RSVP on Meetup or the CP2 form
- Meet us at 10 a.m. on 8/10: We'll give you a briefing on what to expect and how you can make a difference in St. Louis
- Bring: Water, snacks, sun protection, and any reflective gear you’ve got, we’ll bring clipboards, maps, and materials
Can’t join in person? Tell us how you experience Gravois in our Story Bank. And sign the Gravois Safety Petition to demand safer streets now!
