Comment: The WS will be held in English and a detailed knowledge of Stoic philosophy is not required. The idea of the WS is to have a facilitated and guided open dialogue about the below described topics.
Details
The workshop will focus on the use of Stoicism for personal development in life. We will consider the different offerings of Stoicism based on original text passages for the personal development in life of a modern individual. In the course of the workshop we will cover topics like, e.g.
· The Stoic conception of a self
· The Stoic theory of oikeiosis
· The Stoic theory of moral development
· The role of the stoic individual in society as well as
· modern analogues to the stoic development perspective (e.g. Jane Loevingers approach to personality development).
The workshop will be co-hosted by Rob Colter (University of Wyoming) and Alexander Zock (Executive Coach, Life Counselor and Organizational Consultant).
Robert S. Colter is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, University of Wyoming; the Founder and Director of the Wyoming Stoic Camp; and the Co-Director of Wyoming Pathways from Prison. More here.
Alexander Zock is a self-employed executive coach, life counselor and organizational consultant. He holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics and Planetary Sciences, has collected leadership experience in his career in the aviation industry and runs a Meetup Group which focuses on “The theory and practice of Stoicism as a way of life”.
