This is the Brentwood | Franklin | Nashville Stock Investing Meetup group (formerly known as Brentwood IBD Meetup). Welcome one and all aspiring investors, from beginner to guru :-)
The focus of this group is on stock investing for individual investors. We will explore intro investing topics, various investing styles (growth, momentum, value), a range of analysis techniques (fundamental, technical (charts), etc.), and available investment tools/software/data/services. As the group grows, we plan to have both fundamental and advanced sessions to accommodate investors at various stages in their investing journey.
We are relaunching this group (September 2025) as an in-person meetup group, at least initially. We will have some materials posted on this Meetup group webpage (or an associated web page) from time to time, but otherwise this will not be a virtual group as we start out. Since this is a new effort, don't rely on the reviews or attendance of prior group events as an indicator of the group's quality or popularity. We intend to build an active membership with a goal of having a few dozen people or more at any particular group meeting, space permitting, and to deliver a quality experience.
Note that prevously this group had an "affiliation" with IBD (Investors Business Daily) and was focused on focused on the CANSLIM investment approach. I have been informed by IBD that they are no longer supporting/affiliated with any Meetup groups.
[By the way, the CANSLIM approach is based on the book by William O'Neil (the founder of IBD and the inventor of the CANSLIM approach), entitled "How to Make Money in Stocks, 4th edition" (see my book review here: My book review - How to Make Money in Stocks. The book review is dated, but the methodology is alive and well and applicable in the current world of stock investing (2025)).
