About us
This group is for anyone interested in discussing the potential societal effects of artificial intelligence. Our mission is to raise awareness and provide a space for the discussion of the development of beneficial AI in a Swedish context. Whether you are a researcher, developer, policymaker, or are simply curious about the implications of AI, you are welcome to participate.
We host events every other Wednesday evening. Our events span a range of formats and topics, including discussions, lectures, and debates, and cover everything from technical and philosophical topics to political and societal impacts. We also host more casual social events where you can get know others in the area who want to better understand the huge potential impacts of this technology.
We're new to Meetup but have been around for a few years elsewhere. We hope to see you at an upcoming event!

[Reading Group] The Bottleneck in AI Safety
Sveavägen 76, Sveavägen 76, 113 59 Stockholm, Sweden, Stockholm, SEIn a widely discussed LessWrong post published in July, Charbel-Raphaël, Executive Director of the French Center for AI Safety – CeSIA, argues that educating politicians on AI risk is much more important than working on technical solutions.
He claims that most senior policymakers have never seriously considered catastrophic risk from AI, and that the field of AI safety, with roughly 3.6 researchers for every advocate in US AI governance, is putting its effort in the wrong place. The post draws on two years of meetings in European and UN institutions.

[Meet-Up] AI Safety Co-working sessions
EA Sweden, Sveavägen 76, Stockholm, SEAre you working on something related to making society's AI transition safer, or would you like to?
In these co-working sessions, we will gather to coordinate and work on hands-on projects together. You can come with your own ideas or sign up for existing independent projects or those related to other organisations, such as PauseAI or Effective Altruism Sweden.
Our focus mostly lies on reducing the likelihood for and mitigating the risks of transformative AI - but we would also love to see people that are interested in thinking about positive visions for the future, and how we can get there safely.
In short, anyone who wants to put their hands on a project related to AI safety - research, policy, advocacy, community building or just learning more about related topics or converse with people that are there - are welcome!
