SICC #39 - All We Imagine As Light @ Bio Zita

We're excited to start our spring season with a special screening of 'All We Imagine As Light' at Bio Zita, on Thursday 24th April. A quiet and luminous new work from India, this film has been gathering acclaim at festivals worldwide, and won the Grand Prix at Cannes Film Festival in addition to being nominated for the Palme d’Or. This will be the first showing of the film in Stockholm with English subtitles.
As ever, after the screening, we'll gather in Zita's bar for a relaxed hangout to connect with each other and talk about the film.

About the Film:
In bustling Mumbai, two nurses—Prabha and Anu—share a cramped apartment and an unspoken sense of disconnection. Prabha, older and reserved, is still reeling from the silence of her long-absent husband, while Anu, younger and restless, is caught in a secret relationship with a Muslim man that has no future in the eyes of society.

When a rare break from work gives them a chance to travel to a quiet coastal town, the women step away from the noise and expectations of the city. The trip becomes an unexpected space of intimacy, reflection, and quiet rebellion—where something as simple as light filtering through the trees can feel like liberation.

Directed by Payal Kapadia, All We Imagine As Light is a gentle and poetic film about female friendship, longing, and the quiet moments that shape a life. It marks a new voice in Indian cinema—one full of empathy, nuance, and light.
