More About the Course
This advanced course offers rigorous exploration of the two classical methods for cultivating Bodhichitta: the Seven-Point Cause and Effect approach and the Equalizing and Exchanging Self with Others method.Drawing directly from authentic Tibetan sources, participants will refine their understanding, deepen their meditation, and strengthen their commitment to the bodhisattva ideal in their daily lives. Designed for serious practitioners, this course integrates analytical meditation, textual study, and contemplative guidance. Engage with the vast view, dismantle self-cherishing at its root, and train the mind to expand beyond all limitation. Through consistent study and practice, Bodhichitta ceases to be a concept and becomes the living force of your path.
This course will include a Bodhichitta Retreat day.
Key Benefits of Studying Bodhichitta:
– Cultivates boundless compassion and altruism
– Weakens self-centeredness and mental afflictions
– Stabilizes motivation for both meditation and daily conduct
– Enhances merit and accelerates the path to enlightenment
– Serves as the foundation for tantric practice and bodhisattva vowsMeet Your Teacher

Jeremy first discovered yoga in 2010 when he was a busy college student looking to combine exercise and meditation. Since then, he has explored many different styles of yoga as part of the Buddha Dharma path of inner transformation. His favorite is karma yoga—the yoga of action—which is the reason he recently has joined Yeshin Norbu as a live-in volunteer. In 2022, Jeremy completed a 200-hour Aligned Flow Yoga Teacher Training, and in his classes he encourages the participants to work at their own pace as building foundational strength and flexibility, engaging in breath work (pranayama), and progress toward more challenging peak poses. By bringing body, breath, and mind into greater harmony, Jeremy believes yoga empowers us to meet and process whatever challenges arise in our minds, catering for increased well being — both on and off the mat. In this course, you will gain a clear idea of the path to enlightenment, especially its three main components: renunciation, Bodhichitta, and the right view of emptiness. You will understand the progressive, step-like structure of the Buddhist path (Lam Rim), its origin in the teachings of Guru Shakyamuni Buddha, the three scopes, where you fit at your present stage of spiritual development, what you need to do next, and how you get from there to enlightenment.
The stages of the path to enlightenment (lamrim in Tibetan) are Shakyamuni Buddha’s original teachings presented as a logical and gradual system for learning to develop the mind. Arranged in Tibet by Lama Atisha in the eleventh century, the lamrim was subsequently elaborated by other great Tibetan, notably Lama Tsongkhapa during the fourteenth century.
Understanding the structure and qualities of these stages is like having a road map for transforming life’s challenges and progressing step by step toward happiness, liberation, and enlightenment. In this module, we will study an overview of the path, including seminal texts, such as the Three Principal Aspects of the Path, and The Foundation of all Good Qualities.
This is the third in a series of 14 modules covering the complete Buddhist path to enlightenment. Students may join at any point in the cycle. Discovering Buddhism is designed for students who wish to deepen their understanding of fundamental Buddhist concepts. The program is designed to provide an experiential taste of the Buddha’s teachings and the skills we need to make our lives most meaningful. Each module includes teachings, meditations, readings, and assessment questions. A short retreat is offered at the end of the course.
