All right! Time to kick-off the autumn MLOps Community Meetup season!! This time, we'll focus on AI Platforms: Past, Present & Future. This meetup is sponsored by Runhouse and will be held at Combient's offices in Stockholm.

Event Program

- Doors open at 17:00 CET

- Talks begin at 17:45 CET

- Pizzas from our favorite pizzeria Deglabbet arrive 19:00 CET

- There will be beers courtesy our favorite local brewery Omnipollo (and non-alcoholic options).

- The moderated Q&A session will kick off around 19:30 CET.

Speaker program & line-up

  • Donny Greenberg is the co-founder and CEO of 🏃‍♀️Runhouse🏠. He was previously the product lead for PyTorch at Meta, supporting the AI community across research, production, OSS, and enterprise. Notable projects include TorchRec, the open-sourcing of Meta's large-scale recommendations infra, TorchArrow, & TorchData. He will give the opening talk titled "AI Platforms: Past, Present & Future." Abstract: "In the fast-evolving world of AI/ML, companies are grappling with the challenge of architecting robust platforms. Many organizations find themselves without clear guidance on how to build and manage these platforms effectively, or are bogged down implementing "platforms-in-a-box" or solutions provided by highly opinionated vendors. This talk will explore the historical evolution of AI platforms, to document the lessons learned from a decade of evolution. Specifically, we highlight what makes AI development different from software development, and the traps that teams fall into trying to bridge the gap. Finally, we distill our learnings to offer a clear prescription for the requirements of a successful and effective ML platform."

  • Andreas Hellander, Co-Founder and CEO of Scaleout Systems, will give a talk titled "The Future of AI Platforms is Federated". Abstract: This talk introduces federated machine learning (FL) and places it into the context of edge computing. We will look both at use-cases of FL, and on FL architectures from the perspective of distributed systems. With Scaleout’s framework FEDn as a case-study, we touch upon topics such as scalability, resilience and security.

  • Göran Sandahl, Co-Founder and CEO of Opper will give a talk titled "We Passed the Turing Test, Now What?". Abstract: Large Language Models are a new component of our technical stack that has a lot of promise for solving tasks with speed and flexibility. At the same time, they are challenging many of our traditional principles of sound engineering. In this talk, we will explore some of the common challenges and successful patterns that are emerging, while attempting to peek into the future of software and the evolving role of infrastructure.

About Runhouse

  • Runhouse is a NY-based open-source developer, building a platform that enables rapid, robust AI development based on software development best practices. Build powerful inference and training pipelines with regular Python and instantly run those pipelines on any compute. Runhouse is the best alternative to inflexible ML tooling by offering a simple, DSL-free library that dramatically increases development efficiency and collaboration.

About Scaleout Systems

  • Scaleout is a machine learning software company specializing on edge computing and cybersecurity aspects of AI. We develop the FEDn federated learning framework, enabling machine learning engineers to leverage data that is distributed over multiple edge nodes, devices or data silos.

About Opper

  • Opper is an AI platform built to make LLMs more accessible and easy to work with for developers and product teams.

The moderated Q&A session will be moderated by Kajsa Norin. Kajsa is a self-employed NLP Engineer who has been working in the data science field for the past ten years, focusing on NLP and language technology. In recent years, she has dived deeper into generative AI models and knowledge distillation. As a machine learning consultant, Kajsa now helps clients build intelligent solutions and leverage data to enhance their products.

See you there,

Patrick
