Most of us have our own monitoring scripts and reach for OEM when we can — but what about when neither is around, or when we want the diagnosis handed to us instead of just the alert?
In this no-slides session we build a lightweight database monitoring setup live in the terminal, using Claude Code, SQLcl's built-in MCP server and the official
Oracle skills repository. Starting from a box with Claude and an Oracle database already in place, we add what's missing, wire it together, and end up with a small watcher
that catches needed information from the alert log, works out what matters, and alerts you.
