Welcome to the last meetup for the year with Stockholm SQL. This time, we have two dutchies in town: Peter Kruis and Tonie Huizer.

As we have gotten used to, we meet in B3s office on Wallingatan in Stockholm. Again: Big Thank You to B3 for letting us host Stockholm SQL in your office!

We start at 18:00 with some hearty sandwiches and something to drink and then we start the sessions. Since we have TWO sessions on the same night, we will cut the mingle time at the beginning shorter.

Peter Kruis: Query Store Basics: A DBA's best friend
Ever wondered why your queries are running differently today than they did last week? Query Store in SQL Server can help you figure that out! In this session, we’ll break down the basics of Query Store, designed especially for junior or accidental DBAs.

We’ll talk about what Query Store does, how it works and how it evolved over time, and why it’s such a great tool for keeping track of query performance over time. With explanations and demos, you’ll learn how to use Query Store to spot performance issues, dig into query execution plans, and even prevent bad plans from ruining your day.

If you’re new to SQL Server or just looking for a practical way to optimize query performance, this session will help you to get started.

Tonie Huizer: Proven SQL, New Tricks: AI, DAB and MCP
Meet a SQL Server Estate with over 15 years of history. Stored procedures, business rules, valuable data, and probably a few things nobody dares to touch anymore.
Now someone wants to use it with AI. Do we really need to rewrite everything? Of course not!
In this demo packed session, we'll take that real database and give it some new tricks. Using Microsoft's Data API Builder (DAB), we'll expose existing views through REST, build a client with AI, and keep business logic where it belongs: in SQL Server.
Need to change a stored procedure? That's where Flyway comes in. Want to know what's actually happening? We'll use the Aspire dashboard to investigate requests, performance, and failures. And yes, we'll check the actual database too, because a successful API call doesn't always mean the right thing happened.
Finally, we'll bring MCP into the picture and let an AI client discover entities, query data, and interact with stored procedures.
One hour, plenty of demos, and 15 years of SQL history meeting modern technology. No magical AI promises, no unnecessary rewrites. Just practical tools, real SQL, and a few lessons learned along the way.
