On Mercy by Seneca

Details
Dear friends,
The Stockholm Stoic MeetUp group invites you to a presentation on Seneca's book "On Mercy" (or sometimes also called "On Clemency", lat. De Clementia). The book is considered one of the most important works of Seneca and is the reason some historians label him the first true humanist in Western canon.
The presentation, which is expected to last for approximately 25 minutes, will be followed by an open discussion on the different topics of the books. Focus will be put on the relation between the concept of mercy and stoic philosophy.
Only fragments of the book remains today (approx. 20 pages). Here is a link to an e-version of it: https://standardebooks.org/ebooks/seneca/dialogues/aubrey-stewart/text/on-clemency
This is also an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals in the Stockholm Stoic Meetup group and reflect on how we can live more ethically in our everyday life.
None of the organizers themselves are philosophers by profession nor degree. We are just laymen who are very interested in stoic philosophy. So do not feel discouraged if you are not used to philosophical discussions. Everyone is welcome and we always try to keep the discussion easy-going and practical.
Best regards,
Patryk Sapa
