Aristotle and Stoicism

Details
In our group, we’re mostly drawn to Stoicism, but we also enjoy exploring ideas from other philosophies and great thinkers. It’s not about picking sides—it’s more about seeing what kind of wisdom we can bring into our lives from different perspectives. We often share thoughts and ask questions to see how these ideas might complement or challenge Stoic thinking.
At our last meeting, Duncan gave a fantastic presentation on Taoism, which led to some really interesting conversations. This time, I’d like us to turn our focus to Aristotle. I’ll start things off by sharing why I think his philosophy pairs so well with Stoicism, at least in my own experience. From there, we’ll open things up for discussion as always.
You don’t need any prior knowledge of Stoicism, Aristotle, or philosophy in general to take part. We welcome everyone — from curious first-timers to seasoned readers and academics. It’s a relaxed, open discussion, and all voices are welcome.
Just a quick note: Meetup only allows us to set a maximum of 10 attendees for these events, but in reality, we’re not limited to that number—so if the meeting shows as full on the app, don’t let that put you off. You’re very welcome to come along anyway
