Good fathers can change the world.

To be a good father, one must be a good man.

To be a good man, one must live as Nature requires.

Nature requires that a man become the most virtuous version of himself so he can best serve his family, community, and the world.

The timeless wisdom of Stoicism illuminates the path toward accomplishing this goal.

Who are we?
At SFOA, we are building a tight-knit local crew of like-minded dudes who are equally committed to personal growth, serving our families, becoming better Stoics, and helping each other reach our full potential as human beings and as men.

Today, philosophy has become little more than dry academic banter among "intellectuals" on college campuses and reddit threads. However, 2,000 years ago, Stoic philosophy was a "team sport." Men would get together in small groups of beginners and seasoned practitioners alike, to discuss the deepest topics of life and help each other become better men. Stoicism is not about theory, its about practice. We are bringing this back.

What do we do?
Through small group discussions, social get-togethers, and 1 on 1 sessions, we go deep on the most important issues in life. In the process, we forge deep bonds and friendships as we learn from each other and share what has worked for us.

We hold weekly virtual discussion sessions on a wide variety of topics which generally take aim at applying Stoic principles and exercises to everyday challenges that we face as men and dads. Some discussions will be high level and philosophical, others will be tightly focused on tangible outcomes related to things like fitness, nutrition, finance, kids education, forming solid habits, etc.

We will periodically bring in outside speakers to share their knowledge with us.

We also hold monthly and periodic social meetups where we will have the opportunity to get together in person to hang out and get to know each other. Some events will be for members only. For other events, we will encourage you to bring the whole family. At SFOA we are building brotherhood, fellowship, and a supportive network of likeminded families!

We do something called "lunch roulette" which is where we will randomly match up different group members to facilitate opportunities to go out and meet each other for lunch, coffee, workout, cigars, etc. RELATIONSHIPS ARE MASSIVELY IMPORTANT HERE!!! We are in the business of building lifelong friendships.

What are the requirements to join?
You must be a man over 25 years old who is either a father or planning to be a father within the next 2 years.

You should have a genuine interest in Stoicism. You don't need to have any deep prior knowledge or academic background. Just show up with an open mind and a willingness to learn.

You need to have a team-oriented mindset. Be committed to showing up consistently and always think about how you can give back to the group and help your fellow teammates.

Is someone going to try to sell me something?
Nope. You can't sell brotherhood. You can only forge it through shared experience.

How do I join?
Click this link. Fill out the screener application.

Someone will reach out to you to set up a brief zoom call. This provides a quick opportunity to connect "in real life" and answer any questions you may have.

Provided both you and SFOA leadership still want to move forward, you will be provided access to our private chat group and be added to the full event calendar so you can join your first meeting and be welcomed into the brotherhood.
