About us

Curious about Stoicism? So am I.

I’ve recently gotten into Stoicism through Ryan Holiday’s books, and the ideas have genuinely started changing the way I approach everyday life with setbacks, frustrations, and especially the question of what I can and cannot control.

I’m a beginner with only a cursory knowledge of the philosophy, and I’d love to meet others who are interested in exploring it too. This isn’t intended to be a philosophy class or a serious academic book club. Over a glass of wine (or whatever you like), we’ll talk through the ideas, share our perspectives, and figure out how we can actually apply Stoicism to real life.

We’ll meet every two weeks at a wine bar in the Fort Mill/Tega Cay/Rock Hill area.

We’ll kick things off on Tuesday, September 22 at 7 p.m. with our first book, Ryan Holiday’s The Obstacle Is the Way. We’ll spend our first two meetings, September 22 and October 6, discussing the book, and then decide together which Ryan Holiday book we want to explore next.

You don’t need to finish the book to join us. Come because you read something that made you think. Come with a question. Come with an experience you want to talk about. Or just come because you’re curious about Stoicism.

No expertise required. No quizzes. No pressure to keep up. Just thoughtful conversation over a drink and a chance to learn from one another.

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering how to better handle the things you can’t control, deal with everyday frustrations, or become a little more resilient in life, I hope you’ll join us.

First meetup: Tuesday, September 22 at 7pm
