What we’re about
To anyone looking from a distance, StoLa-CaLaLa! is basically young adults in their 20s sitting in a Launceston cafe with laptops, drinking coffee, typing away, and hanging out.
If you are a young adult in your 20s with the curse of being a writer (be it a hobby or career), you know how hard it is to find writing friends in real life (outside of Discord, at least).
Your friends from the US and other countries are in a different time-zone, so they're not always up when you're up. The writing groups you've found are too far away (interstate, or in Hobart), too broad, or too big. The last time you went to a writing meetup (if at all), you met lovely creative people... who were nowhere near your age.
Wouldn't it be nice to meet writers your age, in person, in your local area (Launceston), over coffee and something sweet?
You can ask them questions like "What needs to happen between these scenes?", or dump your thousand-page worldbuilding doc onto someone who won't automatically think you need to be locked up. You can share your first draft and get real, pointed feedback from real writers instead of just a collection buzzwords or vibes.
You can tell them about the things that drive you to write, and they'll understand! You can tell them about your creative hopes, your fears, and they'll understand!
You can tell them about the sea of failed drafts and dead projects beneath your feet, and they'll very much understand!
These are things I want to do with a writer my age, in person, in my local area (Launceston), over a coffee and something sweet.
Will you join me?
P.S. What does StoLa-CaLaLa stand for? It stands for Story, Lappy, Cafe, Latte, Launnie!
These are the rough requirements to join:
- you call yourself a writer or have a story you want to write (for a book, a comic, a game, etc),
- you have a laptop to write it in,
- you're open to getting coffee in a cafe in Launceston
