What we’re about

Welcome to the Stony Brook Hiking and Ski Group — a home base for Alumni and Friends who hike/ski/ride and want mountain weekends with good company. We’re alumni-run (not an official SBU group). Expect interest checks, room/ride threads, buddy-pass swaps, gear tips, and Shabbat-friendly info near the mountain when possible. Trips range from Stowe to other Northeast resorts; all experience levels are welcome, from first-timers to experts. Join to find trip buddies, coordinate carpools/lodging, or just follow along for future dates. Partners and close friends are welcome at the organizer’s discretion. Come for the snow, stay for the community.

Who it’s for
The Young Jewish SB Alumni & Friends Stowe Ski Weekend is the first gathering designed specifically to help our younger Jewish Stony Brook alumni connect and build momentum for their own future programming. The trip is meant to create a welcoming space where new relationships can form and where young members can begin shaping the kind of community and events they want going forward. It’s open to anyone who wants to be part of this early effort.

Housing cost
$250 per person for the condo share (scholarships available for new grads). This covers housing only. Lift tickets, rentals, food, and transportation are not included (but will be coordinated).

Condo setup (3 bedrooms)
• Bedroom 1: Queen bed
• Bedroom 2: Queen bed
• Bedroom 3: Two twin beds
Note: Queen beds are shared unless a solo option opens. Twin room sleeps two. Space is limited.

Lift tickets
• EPIC Pass holders use your pass as usual.
• Up to 10 buddy passes available for those without an EPIC Pass.
• Buddy passes are 50% off the day ticket—at a $155 day rate, that’s about $77.50/day.
• First come, first served. One per person per ski day while supplies last (confirmed after RSVP).

Shabbat-friendly
The Jewish Community of Greater Stowe (JCOGS) is about 1 mile away and holds Shabbat services. If you’d like, we can coordinate a walking group.
