HUGGING FACE LEROBOT : IA / ROBOTIQUE
Devs, data scientists, ML engineers, étudiants, makers.

HUGGING FACE LEROBOT: AI / ROBOTICS
ROBOTKraft, a 3-day challenge organised by Alsace Digitale and Strasbourg IA at Télécom Physique Strasbourg (Innovlab, Illkirch).
It's a hackathon where the models you train drive physical robots.
Registration required here => Hello Asso (teams or individuals)
More details here: https://www.alsacedigitale.org/robotkraft
Topic
You may already know how to train a model, benchmark LLMs and run a vision pipeline in a notebook. RobotKraft asks the following question: what happens when inference has to become motion? When sensor noise, latency, friction and the room's lighting are part of the loop? When an error is no longer a stack trace but an arm that grabs everything except the target object?
Tech stack
Open-source SO-ARM100 robotic arms (6 axes, Feetech STS3215 servos, hardware provided on loan) and the Hugging Face LeRobot ecosystem: leader/follower teleoperation, recording of demonstration datasets, policy training (ACT, Diffusion Policy, SmolVLA…) and deployment on the robot. Everything is Python/PyTorch, everything is on GitHub — you leave with a reproducible application stack.
What you'll do
In teams, on real hardware, working on challenges inspired by healthcare and space exploration:
- Computer vision: perception, object detection and pose estimation for manipulation
- Imitation learning: collecting demonstrations via teleoperation, training policies, running inference on the arm
- Autonomy: perception → decision → action loop, robustness to real-world conditions
Who it's for
Developers, data scientists, ML engineers, students, makers. A Python/ML background is useful; robotics is not a prerequisite: the point is to confront "on-screen" AI skills with the physical world. Open source, logs, coffee and tartes flambées included.
Schedule (2–4 October 2026)
- Fri 2 Oct, 6 pm → 11 pm — Welcome, introduction of coaches/jury, challenge briefing, team formation, dinner, then first hands-on session with the robots at the Innovlab (9 pm–11 pm)
- Sat 3 Oct, 8 am → late — Build day at the Innovlab (teleop, datasets, training), ongoing coaching sessions, afternoon talk, dinner and evening activities
- Sun 4 Oct, 8:30 am → 6 pm — Final iterations in the morning, preparation for the final challenge, final challenge 3:30–4:30 pm (TPS lecture hall, open to the public), deliberations, awards ceremony and closing drinks at 5 pm
The venue alternates between the Innovlab / TPS lecture hall (build, robots, final) and Fabeon (meals, talks).
