Welcome to the Street Smart AI meetup, where AI practitioners share the knowledge of making ML&DS happen for real live applications. This time, we are meeting offline in a Google Berlin office, Tucholskystraße 2, 10117 Berlin.

💥 Prediction for our Future: AI for Climate Adaptation
🔈 Noel Gorelick, Chief Extraterrestrial Observer, Google

Noel is a scientist and software engineer with several decades of experience in the field of satellite image processing and large-scale data analysis. He worked on 7 NASA spacecraft missions to the Moon, Mars, and Saturn. Noel is a founder of Google Earth Engine, a planetary-scale data analysis platform. In his role as Chief Extraterrestrial Observer, he currently helps scientists, governments, and NGOs use Google Earth Engine to address some of society's biggest challenges like drought, disaster, disease, and deforestation.

In his talk, Noel will present an overview of several Google projects utilizing AI with Earth observation data to help manage climate change, disaster risk and sustainability.

💥 Building Chatbots that Know All about your Business: Retrieval Augmented Generation
🔈 Nikita Kozodoi, Applied Scientist, AWS

Nikita works on building Generative AI solutions to solve diverse business problems for customers across industries. He holds a PhD in Machine Learning from Humboldt University of Berlin, and has earned 18 medals in different Kaggle competitions.

Generative AI is rapidly spreading across different industries. Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) is one of the most popular applications of generative AI and LLMs. In this talk, Nikita will explain how to build conversational assistants that leverage RAG to tap into company’s data and provide accurate answers to user questions. He will also walk through the main components of RAG systems and discuss important techniques to improve and evaluate their quality.
