Let's celebrate one of the goddesses of piano: Yuja Wang whose birthday is February 14. We'll meet one day later on February 15 to play any piece, and encores you have ever heard Yuja play from Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Sibelius, Mendelsohn, Brahms, Mozart, and more. If none of these composers appeal to you, feel free to play any classical piece you are working on. Just know that Einaudi and Yiruma are forbidden! You will be forcibly ejected from the room at the first hint of these two "Neo-classicists." I'm just joking. You can play what you want on this glorious day in which we celebrate the birth of the inspiration for many adult returners to the piano, and the increase in the male fanbase for classical music! To make this celebration count, be sure to wear a Yuja-style outfit and 5" stiletto heels! It's a Yuja cosplay event. Just kidding. Wear gunny sacks if you wish. The important thing is to pay homage to a fashion icon who changed the face of classical music forever, and who has dazzled audiences with her technical wizardry. Be sure to RSVP; without your RSVP, it will be a sad day indeed! Upon receipt of your RSVP, please text me at (562) 881-2737 for address, parking, access to building, etc.
