Hakka Tung Blossom Festival @ Yongning MRT Exit 2

👉 Strictly Shoujo Point #30: Traditions should be honored, for they make a person humble of their origins.

The snow-white tung blossoms, which cover Taiwanese mountaintops from April to May, are seen as a symbol of Hakka culture and the Hakka spirit of resilience. The seeds were used to cultivate oil for painting on ships, furniture and paper umbrellas, and was a major source of income for this ethnic group. Nowadays there are alternatives, yet tung blossoms are a reminder of their heritage. It's a sight to see!

The festival officially starts on the 19th of April but I'm not available for the first two weeks, so I can only settle for the last week, which ends on May 4th. You are free to visit the place whenever you like. I'm hoping it won't rain like it did last time so we can actually see a whirlwind of snow blossoms!

1. Easy card (at least 100 NTD)
2. Comfortable, non-slip shoes for hiking
3. Water and Lunch
4. Sunscreen and insect repellent
5. Wear pants!!
6. Towel

⭐ Itinerary ⭐

10:00 Gather at MRT Yongning Station Exit 2
10:10 Wait for the buses 571, 573, 574, 575, or we take a 3km hike to Chengtian Temple (much more to see imho). Then another 1km hike to Tung Blossom Park through the firefly path
12:00 Arrive at Tung Blossom Park and take a selfie at the podium
12:30 Explore the suspension bridge and have lunch at a gazebo
15:00 Head back down the mountain
15:30 Arrive at Chengtian Temple and take bus back to MRT or take the pilgrimage path
16:00 Arrive at MRT Yongning Exit 2

The times are not set to stone and may adjust according to the needs of the attendees.
