Canal Boat Afternoon Cruise
Details
Fancy a wee leisurely afternoon cruise on the canal? Then join us for this event which leaves from Southbank Marina in Kirkintilloch sailing Westerly towards Bishopbriggs. Why not bring along a packed lunch? Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
I am asking for £6 to cover a donation of £5 per person to the Seagull Trust and your £1 group fee. Please pay by Friday the 22nd of May so that anyone on the waitlist has the opportunity to go.
These cruises are operated by the Seagull Trust, a charitable organisation, funded solely by donations and grants and wholly run by unpaid volunteers. They have two boats at Kirkintilloch, the Yarrow Seagull and the Marjorie Seagull, and each boat can accommodate a maximum of 12 people. I have reserved both of them for our sole use. Both are fully accessible with lifts to accommodate those with mobility problems or in wheelchairs. Each has a wheelchair friendly toilet and a galley.
How to get there:-
Close to the centre of Kirkintilloch, at the Southbank Marina, 100 Southbank Road, Kirkintilloch G66 1XU
From Townhead in the centre of Kirkintilloch turn into Southbank Road, then left into Southbank Drive. Pass the Police Station then right into Strathkelvin Place until you come to the Southbank Marina. Those travelling from the motorway, follow signs for Kirkintilloch, then for the Marina. (The Council Office next to us is also signposted.) Located inside the marina buildings is a lounge area with toilet facilities which are available for passengers to wait in comfort before or after their cruise. The boats leave from the pontoon on the right of the marina.
#### Parking:
Spaces are available in the car park on the street side of the buildings surrounding the marina.
