( you might also like to take a look at last handout )
This is a very good presentation for newcomers or for those interested in learning about Buddhism. Basic Buddhist concepts are presented and discussed.
This will be presented following 20-30 minutes of silent meditation which begins promptly at 6:30 pm.
The Wheel of Dharma has been turned at least three times, all based on the quasi-historic writings that are based on Shakyamuni’s verbal teachings.
The first turning produced the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.
The second turning resulted in the Mahayana tradition, with the ideal of the Bodhisattva. The Bodhisattva vows to return to samsara countless times until all beings are freed from suffering.
The third turning sought to abandon the idea of clinging to emptiness. This state consists of the highest teachings popularized originally in Tibet. Enlightenment manifests in different degrees of liberation and spirituality, the highest being the practices such as Dzogchen, Mahamudra (the union of all apparent dualities), Tantra, and Chod.
